An Ohio man has been sentenced for committing a federal wildlife crime while acting as a hunting guide in South Dakota.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 59-year-old Randy Miller shot and killed a turkey vulture on a U.S. Forest Service trail while guiding hunters in May 2013. Turkey vultures are protected under federal law.

Miller was sentenced to a year of probation and fined $1,000 for unlawfully taking wildlife.
